Les Champs-Elysées - Joe Dassin

Dans un refrain entraînant,  Joe Dassin a évoqué la célèbre avenue parisienne prisée par les touristes.
Mais la version d’origine de Jason Crest a exalté quant à elle la non moins célèbre Waterloo Road située près de l’Abbaye de Westminster à Londres.

L’adaptation française de Pierre Delanoë présente Paris devenant la ville où l’on trouve tout ce que l’on veut, qu’il soit midi ou minuit.

Le chanteur, Joe Dassin, a obtennu son premier succès international. Le titre est sorti à la fin des années 60, et etait traduit en allemand, anglais, italien, espagnol et japonais! 

Le titre fait référence à l'avenue parisienne des Champs-Élysées, qui a bénéficiée, durant les années 1960, d'une image chic et élégante. Le narrateur se balade de manière insouciante sur l'avenue et le refrain affirme "À midi ou à minuit, il y a tout ce que vous voulez aux Champs-Élysées".

En mai 1969, le titre est sorti en single. Il a participé aux hit-parades de plusieurs pays, dont les Pays-Bas, et a également connu du succès en URSS.

En France, il s'est vendu à plus de 500 000 exemplaires et a atteint le 2e lieu de vente. Joe Dassin, qui pratiquait plusieurs langues, a notamment chanté ce titre en anglais et en allemand.

The title refers to the Parisian Avenue des Champs-Élysées, which enjoyed a chic and elegant image during the 1960s. The narrator strolls carefree down the avenue and the chorus states "At noon or at midnight, there's everything you want on the Champs-Élysées".

In May 1969, the track was released as a single. He took part in the charts of several countries, including the Netherlands, and was also successful in the USSR.

In France, it sold over 500,000 copies and reached the 2nd place of sales. Joe Dassin, who practiced several languages, notably sang this title in English and German.
