Alexandre Sacha Distel est un guitariste de jazz, et chanteur français d'origine franco-russe, né à Paris 1933 et mort 2004. D'origine juive russe par son père, Liyonia, né à Odessa.
Il commence par être guitariste de jazz dans les boîtes de Saint-Germain-des-Prés et du Quartier latin. En 1956, Sacha Distel est considéré comme l'un des meilleurs guitaristes de jazz français. Il joue avec Stéphane Grappelli, et bien d'autres. Il accompagne Juliette Gréco et Sarah Vaughan. Ce travail l'encourage à se lancer lui-même dans la chanson. Le titre Scoubidou le lance définitivement en 1959. En 1961, une mélodie, Marina (La Belle Vie) que Sacha Distel compose à la demande de Roger Vadim pour l'un des sketches du film Les Sept Péchés capitaux rencontre un beau succès. Les succès s'enchaînent : Mon Beau Chapeau puis deux cha-cha : Monsieur Cannibale et Scandale dans la famille.

Alexandre Sacha Distel is a jazz guitarist, and French singer of Franco-Russian origin, born in Paris 1933 and died 2004. Of Russian Jewish origin by his father, Liyonia, born in Odessa. Under the Occupation, the French police arrested his mother, not because she was Jewish, but for political reasons. When his mother was arrested, he began to play the piano and sing. He remained in college in Laval until the liberation of Laval in early August 1944 where one day his father came to pick him up and then found his mother during the Liberation of Paris. Thanks to his uncle, Ray Ventura, Sacha Distel gradually became interested in jazz. By meeting saxophonist Hubert Damisch, Sacha Distel formed the group which allowed him to enter the big leagues. They won the Prix du jazz du Coliséum the prize for the best small modern orchestra. He began as a jazz guitarist in the clubs of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter. In 1956, Sacha Distel was considered one of the best French jazz guitarists. He plays with Stéphane Grappelli, and many others. He accompanies Juliette Gréco and Sarah Vaughan. This encourages him to embark as a singer himself. The title Scoubidou launched him definitively in 1959. In 1961, a melody, Marina (The Good Life) that Sacha Distel composed at the request of Roger Vadim for one of the sketches of the film The Seven Deadly Sins met with great success. More successes follow: My Beau Chapeau, then two cha-chas’: Mister Cannibal In the 1970s and 1980s, he still enjoyed great success. In the United Kingdom, the title “All the rain falls on me” (Raindrops keep falling on my head) reached 10th place in the charts. |
